5.16 am

Posted in weird stuff, whatever on February 19, 2009 by TOI

It’s 5.16 am, already thursday, i am at home, no big party, no late work, just hanging around at home, nothing really to do tomorrow that requires me to be up early, in fact i haven’t got to sleep yet.

there must be something wring if I am awake for no reason at 5.16 am.
I should think about it.

quote of the day.

“if you are a 21st century nomad, all your possesions should fit in a suitcase and a laptop, nothing else you should need when you move out of town,,,”

something that is making me think a lot……

the post I forgot what I wanted to talked about and wrote about some other stuff and I finally wrote a really long and insignificant title that is going to be as long as the post and that remembers me to the day I had a conversation with a friend only through the subject of the emails we interchanged and we discovered that 140 characters was the maximun lenght for the subject but it looks like there is no maximum lenght in this wordpress blog system. Now, the post.

So I had this amazing issue to write a post about and I completely forgot it. I cannot remember it, So you think, it shouldn’t be so amazing if you forget so easily about it, and you might be right. I’ve been the whole day, I have to write this post, I have to write this post, and I’ve spent the whole afternoon trying to remember what the hell I wanted to write about, and no way to find it. So I decided to write a post anyway, guessing that I might get this idea back while writing. I know it was something about yesterday’s post about living in the Future and so on, something that I found specially interesting but I cannot remember.

Anyhow I don’t think it matters that much as I’ve been completely sidetracked by trying to save or link facebook videos. I know that i can have some new enemies by saying this, but Facebook Sucks, yeah, you red it, Facebook sucks and make things complicated, and you cannot embed or link videos from other users, so now I am installing firefox and its tool to download and save videos from websites like Youtube.com and so on, so finally I could save and share whatever I like.

You think you can beat me, you don’t know me.

I truly think that the world should be more free and open, we have to stop trying to hide and protect things, we will only be more free (not sure freer it’s ok) when we assume what we are and we don’t hide and protect stupid things. Why can I watch a video from a friend of mine,  which he/she put on facebook for 200 people to watch, but I cannot show it to other friend of mine, well I cannot show it to him/her online, because if he/she  and I get to the same physical space and I log in facebook then I can show it to her/him.  I mean, some restrictions are so, so, so stupid. We have a long way ahead, we have to rethink ourselves.

Today was walking day, and I found myself in the water basins of the North Bank (east side), which are pretty cool and quite unknown and definitely worth checking. (pictures to follow)

slow and lazy

Posted in Freaky fashion people, spanish way, weird stuff, whatever on January 29, 2009 by TOI

I remember that a few years go there was a program on spanish TV dedicated to the Soccer league that was named “el Friqui” (pronounced as it sounds), Friqui was the phonetic translation for the english expression “free kick”. Free kick is basically the action that follows a fault or a challenge against a player in which that player’s team gets the option of having a free kick  against the other’s team goal. Quite simple. So the direction of the program that obviously didn’t know english at all, decided that “free kick” was a kind of special name for that action, not a real description and decided that as it was a special name, it should have it’s spanish version that should replace the normal expression that was in use in spanish (libre directo, which translates for free kick). In this way a new word in the soccer world was born; “friqui”. Of course, thay guy rested so happy with his invention forever and ever.

A few years after the “freak cultures” became fashionable in the US and english worlds, so it did a couple of years after, and of course the adjective freaky was directly translated phonetically to “friqui” or “friki” in the spanish language. Another word was created just transcripting phonectically from the english language.

Blog entry comenting on the “friqui pride” day in Spain ¿¿¿?????aaaaarggggg

Suddently you find yourself in an odd situation where in spanish (you can see this with some online searches) free kick = freaky. And if you are a freaky of free kicks you are literally “un friqui de los friquis”.   I don’t know if any of what I am saying makes sense to any of you guys. In any case disturbing, very disturbing some things that happen in some places.

Whatever….

live coverage

Posted in SOM, weird stuff, whatever on October 17, 2008 by TOI

I have thought that if I can work “live” I can also write in the blog “live”, as it is happening, like some TV people would say.

Ok, I stopped for lunch and couldn’t keep writing, my company doesn’t provide me a laptop, crappy company (mm, this is absolutely off topic). Well, back to work, I’ve been asked to keep working at the minute, send te new model of the city to chicago and explain it to the cosultants. Consultants are late, so director has time to be back and deal with consultants. good. relax afternoon, the first one in the whole week.

Even though when I publish this it is going to be late afternoon I keep writing as if this was a sport narration, or sth alike.

As the afternoon goes on and after send the “stuff” to Chicago looks like I can stay here doing nothing, so I decided to start doing my own “stuff” and I am writing the chapter introduction for “built entities” (note. title of the chapter still provisional)

4.50 pm. Meeting is over, and changes have been made. BM consultant is a pain in the ass, and our partners stupid. So cad information to be updated for now. Working at the minute afain.

6.00 pm. Fortunately changes made. Thinking on going to bed

7.00 pm. Ok, so I left the office about 6.10 and passed through the other office, oh yes we are split in two and I had to spent the whole week in the other office jumping from one computer to another, it sucked.  Got home like 15 mins ago, workshops are over, monday afternoon we have a debriefing of this week, looks we are going to change the scope and the part of the project we are working on.

Going to lay on the sofa, fall asleep. i just had a bowl of rice.

That’s it.

spanish plug

Posted in weird stuff, whatever on September 27, 2008 by TOI

My laptop is from Spain, I bought it in June 2006 (time to get a new one, hopefully a mac, but no money till summer). So my laptop is from Spain and has a power cable with a spanish plug. I am in Madrid, as far as I know, Spain. I am staying at someone of my family’s apartment. So far so good.

So with quite an easy logic, the power cable from the laptop should be able to go and match the plug wall hole. Well mes amies, NO. I cannot plug it because the circular holes are too small for the plug sticks. Suprised??? Well, yes I am.

I only can plug it in one, and through an adapter, because the plucg wall holes are too old, new plugs look to be thicker than old ones. (maybe a metaphore…???)))

Welcome to Spain.

what a day (and a half)

Definitively things never happen alone and everything gets packed in my life, but I must say I love it.
Yesterday nothing really happened but it was one of those funny days.
_I saw a girl wearing a tiger-striped orange patter dyed into her hair, nothing fake, nothing for a party, it was her everyday look.
_ I saw a black guy reading a book about Obama, it looks like you can write a book without having to say anything, or a biography when you have done nothing yet and you are on your forties.
_Is it going to be any black person not voting for Obama next November?
(I know I just earned millions of enemies, but I think positive discrimination is still a way of discrimination, so race should not affect one way neither the other)
_I saw some kids riding on a bike making jokes about me because of my leather jacket. I laugh too, there were funny. And actually it was funnier later because they were showing on TV Terminator with his leather jacket, the joke was about that
_I proof to myself again that I love the last minute thing. I did cleaning yesterday at 1 am and this morning at 7 am just ready before my friends are coming to visit. No need to mention the they are not going to notice it. But I do like to have some kind of pressure or deadline to force myself to do things. I am so much more efficient.
_I fixed my plumbering  problem at midnight with a nails cutter and a screwdriver, so proud of myself.
_I found out that Greyhound buses suck. They don’t sell electronic tickets, wtf, who the hell still doesn’t have e-ticketing, helloooo!!!!! we are in 2008. SO Greyhound sucks. Though I still have to use them, so please sell me the ticket when I go to the station. Thanks
_I realized that we don’t know the definition of Parcel Boundary. (Post about  this issue to follow)
_I got notice that we are presenting the project one working day before it happens.
_I learnt that Sagitarians want to take over the world.
_I wll be doing a competition about something that has not even been planned.

_whatever,

I had a “weird” dream last night

Posted in "frefas", Freaky fashion people, architecture, friends, personal, weird stuff, whatever on August 18, 2008 by TOI

Normally I don’t remember my dreams. I wake up, I think, wow what an amazing dream, I remember for like 30 seconds and then I lose it and just keep the feeling that, wow that was awesome. But last night I woke up suddenly at 3.oo am and thought, wow that was one of the best dreams ever. So I step out of bed, walked into the living, took a paper and managed to write down the “title of a movie”, like the title of the dream.

“What would I be doing now if I had never slept till I met you? Nathan”

The only thing I remember about it, it is that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were dead and Harrison Ford was walking around.

No, don’t ask questions, but I will write a movie about at some point. So I have copyrights fellows.
Then, when writing this a really deep questios has arisen within me (the force is strong within me), would any star actor like Tom or Brad Pitt participate in a movie in which they would half to play themselves. Like one of those small roles that appear in the credits as “themselves”, but beain the starring role. A movie about your own life.

Whatever. I like the title. “What would I be doing now if I had never slept till I met you? Nathan”

P.S. esta es para ti mune.

clocks

Posted in house inside, weird stuff, whatever on June 9, 2008 by TOI

I got like 2 clocks on my walls, aclock from the owen on the kitchen,  a clock in each of my 2 cells, my normal watch on my wrist and my computer clock. That means than in an easy look when I am at home  I have 7 possibilities to check what time is it when I am at home.

It is not that I am obsessed with that, it just happened that way, I have 7 different clocks available.  Normally I don’t realise about that, but this morning walking around my place I notice about all those clocks. The funny point is that none of them shows the same time. No matter that I tried to match them some time ago after a while each of them shows something different. But it is not that each of them has a different speed, they just start with the same time, then move different for a while to make the differences and then stay with those same differences for ever.

Then when I walk from the bathroom to the kitchen it is like a 5 minutes walk in the future, but if I walk on the other way it is like having 5 extra minutes in my life, same happens when I open the 2 cells phones, I can call two places at the same time, pretty amazing.

The only bad thing about this it is that every morning when I go out to take the tube I never know if I am late or early, depends on the clock.

Escape to victory?

Posted in London, city living, dark side, weird stuff, whatever on May 9, 2008 by TOI

Yesterday morning I took the tube as I do most of the days. It is not a very long ride, just three stations with a change of line after one.

So when I catched the second train the coach I went in suddenly had no lights. The rest of the train was perfectly lit, but the last two coaches, including mine were totally dark. When the train was stopped at the station that fact was not really dramatic but as soon as the train went into the tunnel the coach was in complete darkness.

Amazingly nothing really occurred during those minutes. No wallets disappearing, no black eyes, no kisses to a stranger, no babies made, nothing, absolute normality. This city sometimes is weird, people were not even nervous about that. Same situation in Madrid would have a result of two new pregnant ladies, a few kisses to that model at the end of the coach, about twenty guys without the wallet and a couple of them hitted by an angry fist.

Anyhow the feeling was quite awesome because it was like if everybody was together hiding or escaping from something, like the city being bomb by the germans again, or escaping from a prisoners camp through a tunnel, quite impressive. Maybe it was just too early and I just was sleepy.
